Hello all,

My Name is Tom Burn, I am 23 and since Graduating from Swansea University with a 2:1 in Media and Communications I have been trying to discover my passion and find my way into that industry.

Having completed two wildlife filmmaking courses (Introduction to Wildlife Filmmaking- Wildeye and Wildlife Film Academy in SA) I have further developed my skills, and with it my passion, for Wildlife and camera work.

I am confident in what I have learnt on these courses from f-stop values to animal behavior and also in my own Interpersonal, Technical and Creative abilities.

I am now looking for someone else to put their trust in me and take me on in a supporting role where I can gain experience and prove myself worthy to be in the Wildlife Filmmaking Industry.

You can see my 3min Documentary "Cheetah Radio" by following this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SutqjYTkvXU

CV and examples of stills photography available on request.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Tom Burn

Hi Tom,

Have you had any luck finding anyone to assist yet? I know it's incredibly difficult to find these roles - more a case of who you know than what you know?

Hi Nat,

I haven't found an assistant role as of yet no. Are you in the same spot as me then?

Luckily i have landed a role which takes me to South Africa, photographing and creating a corporate film based on the the World Cup venues. Enjoying taking creative/artistic photos of the stadiums though the guidance i have for the film and what they are exactly wanting me to capture gets a little lost in translation at times (It is a French and Italian guy i am shooting the film for). But other than this i am extremely lucky and enjoying myself.

Hopefully one day i will get to shoot some more wildlife!

Tom

That sounds fantastic! Nice one.

No, I run the Wildeye fan page on FB http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pag ... 769?ref=nf and their Twitter page.

Personally, I'm a photographer, writer and online consultant. My site is www.nataliegilbert.net.

In any case, we do occasionally get people asking about work experience and I thought it would be great to have a place online where professionals could look for interns when they could use them and amateurs could look for professionals willing to allow a shadow.

Any ideas you have around this would be great in terms of what you think would be most effective, so we can get the service right. You can reply here or contact me on nat@wildeye.co.uk.

Best of luck with the World Cup!

Nat

Hi Tom and Nat,

Tom, Im making my showreel at the moment, the plan is to eventually pool resourses and ideas with other people trying to enter the industry. Everybody involved could then use it to buff up their wildlife CV. If this is something you would be interested in, get in touch!

Nat, I saw your website- I love the pics and the writing!! :) If there are any internships or shadowing schemes which run over the summer or christmas holidays I would be really interested! (Im a science teacher, to fund this rather expensive habit, but hopefully not for long... :)).

Lots of luck,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Thanks so much for the compliments :) The site is now updated and I've taken on the role of Editor of Wildlife Film News. This is Wildlife-film.com's monthly ezine, packed full of information from wildlife film companies and freelancers. It's a great place to hear about opportunities - they come up rarely, but they do come up from time to time!

If you freelance, it's also worthwhile adding your details to our site at widllife-film.com - it only costs £30 per year for an individual and there are lots of benefits.

We hope you'll consider joining the Wildeye community! :)

Best,

Nat
